The customer’s core requirement was to reproduce a Gantt chart display in Siebel in an Excel format. From a business perspective this allowed flexible analysis of promotions by product and account. This was a complex requirement: in part because the layout required was not a straightforward report of data in Siebel (date ranges had to be converted into bars) and in part because of a non-standard dating system the customer used for weeks of the year.

Customer Systems created the Gantt chart for the timeline of Promotion Planning over a given year at the client’s different Accounts, then designed an innovative solution to the layout problems using XTML for an XSL report.

The customer was extremely pleased with the report, which was used in both sales forecasting and promotions planning, and was one of the key features used to sell the new Siebel application to business. The customer were so impressed with the work Customer Systems achieved that they have gone on to request Customer Systems for two further projects, one to develop OBIEE reports, including application support and user training; and the other a significant redesign of their other Siebel application in a very ambitious timeline.
